INTRODUCTION:

The Bachelor of Computer Information Systems (BCIS) is a four- year academic program of Pokhara University, an integration of information technology with business management that best responds to the emerging needs of the modern business. The programme is designed to impart both theoretical foundation and practical knowledge in computer information system and IT. It prepares you to develop a complete and integrated management information system required by today’s organizations to make informed decisions on time. The curriculum introduces you the contemporary concepts, issues and practices of management, and leads you to enhance your knowledge and skills of information systems and technology which you need to develop a management information system.

Program Objectives:

The programme aims to develop young men and women into competent professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, proceeding leadership and achieving excellence in performance while contributing to the welfare of the larger society.The program specifically attempts to:

  • Preparing students to take up entry-level managerial positions and to start a professional career in computer information systems;
  • Train students in e-business system and appreciate the technologies that impact business goals of e-business system.
  • Develop a sound knowledge base and proper conceptual underpinnings of computer information technology and management.
  • Increase data processing and problem solving skills to develop the ability to use electronic media to solve organizational problems.
  • Inculcating a positive attitude, abilities and practical skills so essential for competent and responsible computer professionals; and
  • Developing independent, critical and creative thinkers with analytical and problem-solving skills.
